Texas Heritage Museum Inquiries
What does it mean to serve? How does war change the people who live through it, and the places they call home? The Texas Heritage Museum invites students to investigate these questions through the experiences of Texans in wartime. Drawing on the museum’s collections of artifacts, archives, oral histories, and the Official Texas State Medal of Honor Memorial to Native-Born Texans, these inquiries put students in conversation with the soldiers, nurses, families, and communities whose stories shaped both Texas and American history. Built with the Inquiry Design Model, each inquiry asks students to wrestle with a compelling question, analyze primary sources, and construct evidence-based arguments about how the past continues to shape who we are today.
